Best Budget Defenders (Top £4.5m Defenders)

In every start of new FPL season, managers come out to hunt some budget options to fill up the remaining slot in their squad. In this article, I have tried to cover some £4.5m priced Defenders that help FPL managers to afford the expensive premiums that.

Ben White: In my opinion, Ben White is the best £4.5m priced defender to start season to fulfill the 4/5th choice. Ben White is pretty nailed on in the team if he can stay fit. If we look at the fixture, we can expect Arsenal picking up some clean sheets in first 7 games. May be Ben White has a lack of attacking threat but £4.5m for an Arsenal defender is probably too cheap.

Lewis Dunk: Lewis Dunk has been known as one of the best defenders outside of the traditional top 6 teams. Dunk offers solid defence and the most nailed defender of the team with the highest goal potential from his strong aerial threat. At £4.5m for Dunk seems like great value to start the season and with a relatively easy schedule to start.

James Justin:  James Justin suffered a critical ligament injury in 20/21 season and missed around 49 matches. But before this injury he got 101 FPL points from 2 goals, 2 assists & 9 clean sheets in just 23 starts. He returned to Leicester XI towards the end and looked like his old who has a high defensive and attacking rate & made 13 appearances last season. He was fantastic in the 2020/21 season and expect the same again in this new season.

Jonny:  After coming back from 2 long term injuries, Jonny has returned to Wolves side directly & scored 2 goals in appearances last season. Jonny offers good attacking potential as a left wing back and his team offers some solid defence that increases the clean sheet chance. He can be a great value at £4.5m.

Vladimir Coufal:  Vladimir Coufal missed around 10 league games last season however this Czech fullback managed to get 4 assists with his name. It is expected that manager David Moyes will prefer the Coufal over Johnson because of his strong attacking threat from the right back position. With a price tag of £4.5m Coufal should be on every FPL manager’s radar to begin the season.

Tyrick Mitchell:  Under Patrick Vieira Crystal Palace plays good football specially in their home games. Palace got 12 clean sheets last season 7 of them came from the home games. So, Mitchell has a good chance to get some clean sheets to start the season. On the other hand, Mitchell links up the play with Wilfried Zaha and we all know that Zaha loves to loves to cut inside and that creates some space for Mitchell to be in some nice position to get goal contribution.

Rico Henry:  Brentford Manager Thomas Frank prefers to play with 3 man in the back and £Rico Henry plays the role as a left wing back who scored 3 goals last season. Brentford’s fixture is pretty good to start proceedings this year and they were not that bad defensively last year. As the 5th defender, £4.5m priced Rico Henry won’t be a bad option to start.

  1. I think we need to consider Botman (4.5m) or Tarkowski (4.5m) as a potential season keeping defender.
NUFC and EVE both will be relaying on them.
LEI concedes too many goals. Justin is not right choice.
