The defenders have been more outperforming a lot of strikers. Are you expecting this to continue? If yes, then who you might consider? Let’s have a discussion with facts.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has been in super form with 88 points in his 11 starts so far with 7 assists and 1 goal. He also finds 7 clean sheets. He has been a must pick for last 3 seasons. He is 8.0m defender but value for money. He is also owned by only 38% managers despite being top scoring defender. So he is a differential pick as well. So if you haven’t picked him till now, hurry up.
Reece James has been playing as an attacking defender and has been getting as many chances as possible. With Timo Werner not in form and Lukaku being unfit he is getting the position of his lifetime. So far in his 7 starts he scored 4 goals along with 4 assists and 4 clean sheets. At the price of 6.3 and 36% owner you must consider him being in your team. Thought he has a little chance of being under rotation but if he plays he will be nailed for sure unless a injury occurs.
Joao Cancelo has played all 13 matches under Pep and scored 5 assists along with 8 clean sheets scoring a massive 80 points. At the Price of 6.7 and with 36% ownership he is my 3 value for money defender pick for the season.
Antonio Rudiger has scored 69 points in his 12 starts of this season with 2 goals, 1 assist being a central defender. He is cheaper than others and is less likely rotate. He also has 7 clean sheets. He is 6.0m defender and in my opinion a value for money defender as Chelsea has one of the strongest defensive line in the league.
Virgil Van Dijk is another central defender with 70 points at 6.6m from Liverpool who has 8 clean sheets along with 1 goal and 1 assist. He has the lowest chance of being under rotation as he is the pillar of Liverpool defensive lineup.
Others You might also consider under conditions
Marcos Alonso is now a must pick who had Chilwell who is expected to be out for next 8 game weeks. With no other alternative of Chilwell Marcos Alonso is a must pick who scored 1 goal and 1 assist in his 7 game weeks. He is now on 5.6m and 10% owned which might bring you a massive differential as he will be playing at Wing back.
Sergio Reguilón has scores a goal in last game against Leeds under Antonio Conte where he was called “New Chilwell” fron Spurs. They have great fixture ahead and I thing he deserves a place in your team as he is only 5.1m defender playing as Wing Back owned by only 13% managers so far.
Aaron Cresswell has very interesting fixture ahead of game week 16 and so and he has potentiality of assisting as well as scoring from spot kicks.
