Captain Materials: Game Week 08

Mohamed Salah is a man on a mission this season with 6 goals and 4 assists in his first 7 weeks. 70 points and far and a massive 21 ahead of the 2nd highest points scorer. Salah has 28 shots, 16 on target, 8 big chances and an xG of 5.58. He is also joint top of the BPS picked up this season with 11. In an early kick off against Watford away he is probably going to be highest pick Captain of GW-08.

Kevin De Bruyne comes down to the fact that he is only 2.2% owned. At 11.9m, he is expensive but we know who he is. With Man City’s upcoming run of fixtures, KDB seems to be finding his feet just at the right time. In his last 2 appearances in GW 6 & 7, KDB has taken 9 shots. Admittedly, only one has hit the target and that resulted in a goal but a fine finish it was against Liverpool. He seems keen to get back up and running after an injury hit start to the season. With Burnely home where Man City has a record of back to back four 5-0 wins KDB seems like a mist pick.

Son Heung-Min played 6 games and scored 3 goals with 1 assist in his 520 minutes playing time. In that time he had 19 shots in total with 9 shots from inside the penalty area. Tottenham plays Newcastle away where New Castle United seems one of the weakest in defence with 16 goals conceded in 7 GW’s same as Norwich City.

GW-08 Captain Pick (differential):

Neal Maupay scored 4 goals 7 matches where he played 586 minutes. At 6.5m and with only 3.9% ownership, I think Maupay could be a useful differential punt in wildcard teams this week. Maupay has had 15 shots so far this season with 11 in the box. His xG is 2.43 with his goal involvement being 50% of Brightons returns this season so far. Maupau comes up against a Norwich side who have conceded the joint most goals this season (16) and only have 1 clean sheet. I think Brighton could cause Norwich real problems this weekend and I expect Maupay to be a real threat throughout the game. He is on penalties too.
