Midfielders to think about in £7.5 & under

Whenever it comes to xG/90, most of the players we can see here are not nailed on. But Alli, Zaha, Pepe have good chance to be nailed on in some point. Here the main thing is if anyone can predict the expected minutes of these players like if any of their teammate becomes injured & as a result, he has good chance to start regularly then that player can be an absolute steal at this price. On the hand, in the start of the season a lot of player are yet to join the team or have fitness issues then, any of these players can get chance to start. As far I think Greenwood is going to start in GW1 but Martial is fit, Lingard played in pre-season games that’s something we shouldn’t forget. So, I think when the manager gets some options to rotate his player on the basis of form & performance of the player. We all know that Rashford is out for some weeks so if we think Cavani is playing as CF, Sancho in the RW, Fernandes as the number 10 in the middle then Greenwood can easily play on LW. If this happens & Greenwood does the job properly to impress Ole then it’s very much possible that we are getting him in the starting XI regularly but if he fails Ole can easily try Lingard or Martial in LW position. Another thing that I want to add is we can see Greenwood to be substituted in 60/70 minutes as the manager has options to use fresh legs.

Diogo Jota is another player that can be compared with Man City players as in last season he didn’t play that much minutes for injuries but managed to score good number of goals. But in this season, he will fight with Bobby Firmino to get more minutes and the FPL experts & LFC fans are expecting him to play more minutes than Bobby. I won’t mind if anyone say Jota is the best MID around 7.5 to start the season as they have really good fixture to start.

Nicolas Pepe is another player that a lot of people are thinking about. He scored 8 goals & assisted 3 in the second half of the season & that time he delivered 7.3 points per 90 minutes. But I think it won’t be that wise decision to pick him in the first 3 GWs as they are going to face Man City & Chelsea in two of these three GWs. I think if I am going to pick any Arsenal player it’s going to be Emile Smith Rowe. He is very young, talented & pried only 5.5, playing as number 10 & mostly looking more nailed on than Pepe. I can’t see many better options currently than ESR in this price. Bukayo Saka at 6.5 can be another option as he can play in both sides & I think he will play more forward to score some goals. The quality of the balls Saka send to the box is really good that increases his assist potential. If the rumours about Alexandre Lacazette comes true & he leaves the club then Saka can easily play on the RW by forwarding Aubameyang as the CF.

Dele Alli is a player who always plays better in pre-seasons like he did in last season & whenever the season starts, he becomes a trap. But I think things can be different in this season as Spurs have just got a new manager and he is playing as number 10 in pre-seasons. Alli is a player talented player who can easily give 20+ returns in season & he’s done it in the past. He can be a brilliant pick at 6.5 if Nuno believes him & he can deliver like him regularly, he can be in anyone’s watchlist.

Anwar El Ghazi is another player that a people are thinking about. The most attractive thing about him is he is on penalty. Even in a pre-season game the newly signed CF of Villa Ingsy was there on pitch but El Ghazi was the man to take the responsibility of penalty. But Villa singed some exciting players so he can be in danger any time.

Newcastle United are still expecting to get Joe Willock in their squad. One thing about this club is they have got a new assistant manager in January & that has made their results really good. So, if Willock joins Newcastle then he is going to be a sure starter & can be a noticeable option at 6.

Harvey Barnes is a player of real quality who was about to get the call for Euro squad but then his injury arrived & finished everything. After that injury in GW26 he didn’t play a single minute in the league. Still he has provided 5.04 points per game with 14 goal contributions from 22 start & incredible. He is a very clever player who with some good pace & he always larks in nice areas to get the ball to score.  I think Leicester is a good attacking side with good number of goals & some eye-catching fixtures to start. Maybe I will not pick him as I want to see him to be on the pitch in the league. But one thing I want to add is I think he is going to be nailed on as he plays on the right side; but there is chance that we can see some fight among Iheanacho, Perez & Daka to get that place on left side.

A lot of people I know considers Wilfried Zaha as the biggest fraught in town of FPL as whenever they pick this man, he stops delivering points. He will play under the new manager after the departure of Roy Hudson so that’s something we should keep in mind. At the same time in the start of the season he has terrible run of fixtures and there are some really other good options to start.

If we think about the creativity, xA/90 can give a very clear view. In the top of the table Raphinha is the best choice by far distance at 6.5. If their teammates can covert his supplies into goals then he will get a lot of assist. Maybe he is ignored by a lot of manger just for bad fixture. But Leeds United is not a team to judge with the fixtures as we all know that what that team can do. After GW3 Leeds have a good run of fixture. He can be a stand out pick at any point of this season if we think about the things, he offers at 6.5 only. If you think you can pick easily Harrison at 6 but there is big gap of creativity between these two players. It can happen that Harrsion will end the season will more goals than Raphinha in that case Raphinha is the man to get the assist of those goals most of the time. So, I will say Raphinha worths that extra price for sure & he is underprice in that price.

Mason Mount at 7.5 will be a sure starter for Chelsea. He has joined Chelsea camp last week after Euros so I think he is going to start. There is a big difference of Mount under Tuchel & Mount under Lampard. Under Tuchel he is playing regularly, taking set-pieces even he took some penalties when Jorginho was not on the pitch but this can change after the introduction of Lukaku in Chelsea team. So, he can be a good shout at 7.5 from GW5/6 when Chelsea have some good fixtures to come.

Leandro Trossard can be named as the “Unlucky Creator” as the forward players of Brighton fails to convert the chances into goals. If Brighton can improve in their front line in this season, Trossard is the only player to target, I think.

Said Benrahma at 6 can be good player to look at as without Lingard he is looking nailed on & currently he’s having a very good pre-season.  If I look at his stats, we can see that he is making good number of big chances & shooting a lot to get some goals. As West Ham has some really nice Fixtures to start, he can be a good punt in his price. But at the same time, it’s always better to pick a player after watching some time to play in PL as he didn’t that many games in PL & there is some differences between PL & pre-season. But he is someone we can’t ignore as he has very good FPL potential.

Hudson-Odoi, James Rodriguez, Hakim Ziyech have impressive stats as they played few minutes. Both of Hudson-Odoi & Hakim Ziyech are not sure starters under Tuchel but they will get some minutes from bench as Tuchel rotates his players a lot but that’s not enough to pick a MID on 7.5 when we have some good nailed on options in that budget. Getting some news from here & there that James Rodriguez is not in the plan of the new manager of Everton & the Colombian midfielder is also looking for clubs to join. So, it’s better not to go there.

James Maddison is another exciting player that a lot of people are keeping their eye on. But I think he is a risky option as he passes most of the time of the season with injury. But whenever he stays on the pitch, he is a really good option. He is a player who loves to have shots from distance. He’s on corners, free-kicks & he can play good long balls that increases his assist potential a lot. But we can see him to play deeper some times when Brendon Rodgers will play with two wingbacks.

    1. Bowen is also a good prospect He has already got a good pre-season. I won’t mind if anyone take him in consideration

But it’s most the stat of per 90 of last season & for Bowen it was not that good that’s why he’s not here.

  1. Very informative and statistics based writing. THANKS for the comparison among those gems. Those in dilemma will get a adequate support from this analysis.
